The Sensory Room

We are lucky to have a Sensory Room in this setting. This room is used for small-group sensory play for them to explore. We sometimes take children to this room for story-telling or focused activities.

We have created a play area with soft play bark and rubber chippings which protects them from all those grazed hands and knees. A colourful pathway adds to the fun too.

The play garden includes many inspirational activities such as: A sand pit, bug house hotel and mud kitchen. Physical play includes a slide, stepping stones and ride on trikes. We have also created a playhouse with a sensory garden. Also available is mark making, such as: blackboards, magnetic board and sensory beads. A book corner is also formed.

A tuff tray will feature topical themes for the children's extended learning and enjoyment

After lunch, the room prepares for nap time, as most children will sleep at this time. Each child will have their own sleep mat and linen, which we wash and clean weekly. Do not worry if your child doesn't sleep at this time, they will spend time in one of our other rooms, depending on their confidence and needs.

Our curriculum follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). For more details of this statutory framework, please refer to the General Info page.
